Genie Tolan has been a familiar face on the TV landscape since the 1970s, when her first hit sitcom, Genie, first aired.
She has since become a major Hollywood figure, appearing in dozens of movies and TV shows, including “The Lizzie Bennet Diaries” and “The Princess Diaries.”
In the last decade, Genie has also enjoyed a steady rise in stature.
As a stand-up comedian, Tolan starred on “The Late Show With David Letterman,” and in 2015 she hosted the series “The Genie Chronicles.”
She recently appeared on the ABC show “The Voice,” where she was the winner of the coveted “Best Newcomer” award.
Now, the actress-comedian-actor is set to star in a new series of shows on TLC.
Tolan’s “Genie” will premiere next year, with the network’s new show, “Genies,” being set to debut in 2019.
“Geniesses” is a spinoff of Tolans long-running “Genius” TV show, which has featured some of her best-known roles, including as Genie in the 1980s TV movie “Mama” and in the 1995 movie “Genes,” which won Tolan the Golden Globe for Best Actress.
“I love that Genie’s on TV, I love that we’re able to use Genie and her character,” Tolan told The Associated Press in an interview.
“It’s just a really fun opportunity to bring in some of my favorites that I’ve been doing for the last 20 years.”
Tolan, who is now 43 years old, says she’s excited to be a part of this new series.
“When I started Genie, I knew it would be a good challenge,” she said.
“And now it’s really exciting to be back and play Genie.”
Tolans current tour of Broadway dates begins April 3 in New York.
“We’re just thrilled to be able to bring Genie back to our beloved stage,” she added.
Tolons show is set in the 1960s, where she plays the Genie of the “Millionaire’s Club” in a group of wealthy families, including the Rockefellers, the Dukes and the Vanderbilts.
She will also play the Genie on “Genesis,” which premiered in 2015.
The series is produced by Tolan and John S. DeBlasio, a writer/director from New York, and features a mix of original material and characters from the “Fame” franchise.
Genie, who was first introduced in 1977, is one of the most popular children’s characters in the world, with more than 80 million people watching her every week.
She is a playmate, princess, witch, witch doctor, and a love interest for several characters.
She also has a series of books, such as “Genix” (1990), and is the creator of the children’s show “Mamma Mia!”
In her most recent role, Genie also helped bring the beloved film franchise to life in 2016, appearing as an old-school Disney character in the animated movie “Finding Dory.”
Genie is a character that is very popular, and the “Genys” TV series will be able expand that appeal.
The show is currently filming in the UK, and Tolan will appear on the show in London later this year.
She’s also starring in a series on TBS, “The Real Mommy,” which premieres in the fall.
Tola has been in regular appearances on the “Family Guy” and Disney Channel shows for decades, but has also worked with some of today’s biggest stars, including Nick Jonas, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga, and Snoop Dogg.
The Genie series will focus on the character, which is a big draw among children, said Tolan.
“A lot of kids love Genie, but they really don’t know much about her.
And when they do, they want to know more,” she told The AP.
“This show will be the most fun Genie I’ve ever had, and it will also bring a lot of joy and entertainment to the kids.”
The series will include four new episodes, and will feature new voices for each Genie.
Tolar will also be bringing back one of her famous musical numbers, the “Rescue Me,” for the series.
She says that Genie was so popular in the ’70s and ’80s, she had a lot to answer for, and her role on the series will help her get back on track.
“She has a big role to play in our show,” Tolar said.
The “Geny” series will premiere on TBL on April 3, 2019.
The first episode will be titled “Rise of the Genie.”
